Automatic Exchange of Information

The international standard on the automatic exchange of information (AEOI) is designed to increase transparency in tax matters in order to fight cross-border tax evasion. The standard requires banks to exchange certain information on their customers with the competent tax authority, as well as certain information on their financial accounts. The information exchanged can only be used for tax purposes.

More than 100 countries, including Switzerland, have stated that they plan to adopt this standard. In the autumn of 2018, Switzerland exchanged bank data for the first time with the initial partner states.

For more information on the partner states that have signed an AEOI agreement with Switzerland, including their effective application dates, you can go to this website.
