Does my card have a contactless function?
Your card features a contactless function if the logo appears.
Where can I use the contactless function?
You can use it anywhere Maestro cards are accepted and the payment terminal is equipped with a contactless function. These terminals are recognisable by their Maestro and contactless logos.
How does contactless payment work?
Hold your card within 4 cm of the contactless card reader at the payment terminal. Confirmation of the payment will appear on the screen after a few moments.
If the amount owed is less than CHF 80, the payment will be made without you having to enter a PIN code.
Can I disable the contactless function?
Yes, you can disable or reactivate the contactless function by contacting:
- one of our online advisors available from Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 7 pm either by telephone on +41 58 33 12345.
- your local branch advisor; just schedule a meeting using the secure messaging service of your e-banking
Is there a limit on contactless payments?
Contactless transactions are made without a PIN having to be entered for amounts up to CHF 80.
For security reasons, you can make transactions up to a maximum of CHF 200 without entering your PIN code. Once this amount is reached, you will be asked for your code as a safety measure.
These limits may be lower or higher abroad, depending on the individual Mastercard and Visa services.
Is using the contactless payment function secure?
Contactless payments use the same data transmission protocols and cryptographic security procedures as chip payments.
There is no risk of accidental payments due to the short range of the NFC signal (2 to 4 cm at most).
