The 3rd pillar, a major asset for your future quality of life

The amount of the 1st and 2nd pillars that you will receive on retirement will represent on average 60% of your last salary before retirement. The 3rd pillar is a voluntary, individual savings plan designed for the long term to provide you with additional income at the end of your professional life.

It can also be used to finance other projects, but at this point, we need to differentiate between Pillar 3A and Pillar 3B:

Pillar 3A

It can be withdrawn no earlier than 5 years before retirement, or earlier in certain specific cases, notably:

  • purchase of a main residence
  • a change in career direction (becoming self-employed or changing self-employment field)
  • definitive departure from Switzerland
  • any other event provided for by law

Pillar 3B

It may be withdrawn at any time and unconditionally.

To benefit, we recommend that you make your payment before 15 December this year, to ensure that it is taken into account for the current year. Payments into your Pillar 3A are deductible from your taxable income, up to a certain limit**.

As an employee

You can contribute up to CHF 7,056 and deduct it from your income.
