To implement this project, Crédit Agricole next bank was able to call on the expertise of Ecosapin. This specialist company, based in the canton of Vaud, delivers potted Christmas trees throughout Switzerland, collects them after the festive season and ensures that they are replanted in the wild. If the trees do not continue their life cycle, they are used to produce biogas, a renewable energy produced by the fermentation of organic matter and used to produce heat, electricity, fertiliser or fuel.
Why potted trees?
Natural potted trees have a much smaller carbon footprint than artificial trees. Natural trees are completely biodegradable, whereas artificial trees are largely made from non-renewable materials, including plastic*. What's more, because potted trees are not cut down, they continue to convert carbon dioxide into oxygen, helping to limit the greenhouse effect*.
Over the next few weeks, Crédit Agricole next bank's head office and branches will receive trees that will be returned to their natural environment after the Christmas holidays. Thanks to Ecosapin's recommendations, our teams will be able to provide the conifers with optimal conditions and the necessary care to keep them in good health during their stay in our premises and return them to nature in the best possible conditions.
