Frequently Asked Questions
Minergie is a Swiss building certification for new and renovated buildings. The certification focuses on comfort - in terms of living and working - for the users of the building. This comfort is guaranteed by good quality building envelope and consistent air exchange. Minergie buildings are also characterised by very low energy requirements and the highest possible use of renewable energy.
Minergie ensures quality during the planning, building and usage stages. The three best-known building certifications, Minergie, Minergie-P and Minergie-A, guarantee efficiency and high quality right from the planning stage. The ECO add-on allows health and ecological aspects of the build to be taken into account. The SQM Construction add-on is aimed at building owners and planners who wish to guarantee stringent provisions during the build. SQM Exploitation offers simple and effective control of the settings of a building's technical installations and PERFORMANCE is a usage optimisation solution for larger buildings. Both products ensure that your building functions optimally and consequently provides maximum comfort.

The Swiss standardised cantonal energy certificate for buildings (CECB) assesses the energy efficiency of a building's envelope and the amount of energy it consumes according to standard use. The CECB Plus includes an advisory report for energy renovation in the assessment.
Using an online tool, the CECB expert assesses the energy performance of the building in seven classes from A to G, first as regards its envelope and then its overall energy efficiency.
Class A means:
Building envelope efficiency
Excellent thermal insulation (roof, façade, cellar), triple glazed windows (e.g. Minergie-P)
Overall energy efficiency
Highly efficient heating and hot water facilities, efficient lighting and equipment; use of renewable energies and clean energy generation (e.g. Minergie-A).
Class B means:
Building envelope efficiency
New buildings that meet category B criteria according to current legislation
Overall energy efficiency
Envelope and technical installations according to new building standards, use of renewable energy (e.g. Minergie renovation models).

With Programme Bâtiments, the federal government and the cantons are seeking to reduce the energy consumption and CO2 emissions of the Swiss building stock. Subsidies are available for the implementation of energy efficient building measures.
Each canton decides individually which measures it wishes to support and under what conditions. See measures for different cantons: https://www.leprogrammebatiments.ch/
